Michael Young

Education & Experience: 

After studying at California State University Northridge, Michael entered the field of education in 2012 as a special education teacher at CHIME community school in Los Angeles, California. In 2014, he moved to the Los Angeles Unified School District as a teacher in their Intensive Diagnostic Education Center program where he developed expertise in serving students with learning disabilities related to reading. Since moving to Groves Academy in 2016, Michael has worked as a teacher in the middle school as well as a response to an intervention specialist. Michael holds a level 2 certification in the Wilson Reading System and is trained in providing instruction with SPELL-Links to Reading & Writing, as well as The Writing Revolution. Michael is also one of the co-creators of the Writing and Executive Function program for students in grades 6-8 offered by Groves Summer Programs and continues to take an active role in developing the executive function curriculum for the middle school division.

Hobbies:

Outside of school, Michael loves to exercise, garden, cook and listen to music.
