Welcome to Our School at Groves Academy!
Our Admissions team is currently working with prospective families exploring enrollment for the 2022-23 school year, and we encourage you to reach out and start a conversation today.
Whether you are interested in exploring educational options for your 1st or 2nd grader or evaluating different academic environments for your high school student, our school at Groves Academy provides an appropriately challenging, scientifically based education to each of our extraordinary 1st–12th grade students.
We recognize that families in Minnesota have a variety of educational choices for students, from our excellent public schools to a diverse set of independent and charter schools. As the only established school in Minnesota specifically serving children who have learning disabilities and attention disorders, our school understands the unique needs of our students and has the tools, knowledge, and support required for student success.
Our understanding stems from almost 50 years of working with students who have learning challenges such as dyslexia and attention disorders. We understand the journey that led you to our door and we know what to do to help.
At Groves Academy, our school admissions process focuses on understanding each child’s unique learning profile and determining whether Groves is a good fit for the student’s needs. Parents and the admissions office start by sharing information, and parents are encouraged to visit the school.
Parents or guardians typically initiate the admissions process by contacting Groves to request information and share information about their child. Initial contact can be made by using the schedule a tour link below or by directly contacting admissions director.
Take a Tour
Parents or guardians are encouraged to visit our school by attending one of our monthly tours and information sessions, or by scheduling an individual appointment. Visits are scheduled during the school day.
Apply to Our School
As part of the application process, families are required to send the application form along with recent individual psychological/educational testing, teacher feedback forms, report cards, and IEP (if applicable). An application fee of $75 is due with the application. Applications cannot be submitted online.
Schedule a Student Visit
After records are reviewed and found to meet initial criteria, the student is invited for a full-day visit to Groves. The visiting day is a required part of the admissions process. Additional visiting days will be scheduled if needed. Our admissions directors will contact you to set up the visiting day.
Explore Financial Assistance
Financial aid scholarships, based on financial need, are awarded to approximately 30% of our students each year and can cover up to 65% of the tuition. Financial aid applications may be submitted after a student has applied for enrollment. Tuition is approximately $30,000.
For admission to the upcoming school year, the ideal time to apply is between November and March.
- When there are immediate openings, parents will be notified within a week or two of submitting the application.
- Applications received before mid-February receive priority consideration. Families who apply by mid-February are notified of admissions decisions by early April.
- Applications received after mid-February are considered on a rolling basis; acceptance and scholarship aid will be granted as space and resources allow.
Acceptance to Groves Academy
Acceptance is based on our school’s ability to meet each child’s needs. Most students at Groves have a learning disability or attention disorder and demonstrate average or above-average intelligence with a discrepancy between aptitude and achievement in the classroom.
Based on available space, students are selected for admission on the basis of their learning disability, academic potential, past school academic and behavioral performance, and willingness to work within our school program. While any student may occasionally become frustrated by challenging assignments, students with primary behavioral or emotional issues will be better served in another environment.
