The Sentence Writing Strategy program is comprised of two parts: Fundamentals in the Sentence Writing Strategy and Proficiency in the Sentence Writing Strategy. This two-day workshop will cover both portions. Together, these components constitute a strategy for recognizing and writing 14 sentence patterns with four types of sentences: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.

The program enables students to master the components of a complete sentence and write simple sentences including subjects, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, infinitives and prepositional phrases. The workshop will consist of presentations on the Kansas method of instruction and practice with the course content. It will be very interactive, as participants learn how to create and teach lessons with the Sentence Writing Strategy.

The registration fee includes four manuals, an Instructor's Manual and a Student Lessons Manual, for each of the two parts. The Instructor's Manual features a systematic sequence of instructional procedures; the Student Lessons Manual features exercises that correspond to instructional procedures.
