The professional testing staff of Groves Diagnostic Services serve children enrolled in the school and also provide outside services for members of the community. Since 1972, Groves has provided academic and psychological assessment for thousands of children and adults for learning disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), underachievement, intellectual abilities, academic skills, and emotional and behavioral issues.
Groves Academy offers on-to-one after-school tutorial services for elementary through high-school students. Teaching techniques and materials are specifically designed to meet each student’s background and needs. Groves Academy teachers, who are specialists in learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders, provide the tutoring services to students attending public and private schools in the community, as well as students enrolled at Groves Academy.
Summer Programs at Groves Academy are open to students entering 2nd through 12th grade, for typical learners as well as those with learning differences, and for students from any school including those who attend Groves Academy. Classes are designed to meet the academic and social needs of each student. Class sizes are kept small to ensure highly personalized instruction. Teachers combine their experience and expertise in special education with a caring and supportive approach to teaching.
Saturday Social Skills is an outreach program that is open to students enrolled at Groves Academy as well as children in the community ages 8-12. It is designed specifically for students who experience difficulty with social interactions. The program caters to students who have language-based learning disabilities, non-verbal learning disabilities, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger's Syndrome, depression and anxiety disorders. The program helps children develop social skills that enhance experiences at school, home and in life.
College and Post-Secondary Opportunities Fair The College and Post-Secondary Opportunities Fair (CAPS OFF) is an annual event exclusively for students who have learning disabilities or attention disorders who are researching post-secondary options.
This annual conference will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2006 and is intended for students in grades 9-12 who have learning disabilities or attention disorders, as well as parents, family members and education professionals.The all-day agenda includes a keynote address, three breakout sessions, an exhibitor hall, and networking opportunities. Topics focus on the information students and parents need to know to get ready and go to college. The cost to attend is only $30.
