Groves Academy's Literacy Partners

Groves Academy's Literacy Partners extend the quality research-based teaching skills that form the basis of the Groves Academy day school program to other schools in the Minneapolis area. Partnerships are established with the goal to improve reading, spelling, and writing skills of Minneapolis school students through strengthening teachers’ effectiveness within the classroom.

Through our Literacy Partners, Groves responds to the need to support our public education system by providing teachers with professional development and mentoring based upon the latest research-based best practices. Research shows it takes at least two years for teachers to master the essential components of comprehensive literacy instruction (Hartford Haskins Literacy Initiative May 2009). The goal of our Literacy Partnerships is to develop a sustainable literacy framework within a three-year partnership.
