Giving Areas
2007-2008 Annual Fund Your charitable contribution is crucial to the success of students at Groves Academy, and for the Twin Cities community at-large, to whom we are dedicated to serving through our day school and outreach programs. We touch approximately 2,500 lives per year!
Annual Fund contributions support many needs at Groves Academy:
-
Day and summer school curriculum
-
Community workshops
-
Music program
-
Teacher training seminars
-
Field trips
-
Art supplies
-
Library enhancements
-
Assistive technology for learning disabled children
Your charitable contribution is crucial to the success of students at Groves Academy.
Tuition covers only 78% of the cost of a Groves Academy education leaving a shortfall of approximately $3,000 per student. Many of our families would find it difficult or next to impossible to stay at Groves Academy if tuition was raised to the full amount needed. Through research based instruction, multi-sensory teaching methods, small classes, and our highly educated faculty, Groves Academy changes and saves lives!
Scholarship Fund Gifts to the Scholarship Fund support the financial needs of our students and families. Groves Academy needs to raise $494,000 to cover scholarship awards made for the 2007-2008 school year. Close to 30% of our families receive scholarships at Groves Academy. In May 2008 the 31st Groves Scholarship Gala raised over $550,000, our biggest year ever, to help offset scholarship needs. For information about this event and others, please contact Lisa Buck at buckl@grovesacademy.org.
Ways to Give
Cash Cash gifts are the most popular way to make a gift. If you itemize your tax deduction, you can deduct cash gifts up to 50% of your adjusted gross income in the year of the gift and carry excess deductions forward into as many as five additional tax years.
Pledges Gifts may be postponed until a specified time in the future. Groves Academy will send a reminder at the time of your choosing.
Matching Gifts Matching Gifts are gifts from companies that match contributions made to Groves Academy by their current and retired employees...a great way to multiply your gift.
Stock A gift of appreciated stock or real estate you have owned for more than one year will generate a tax deduction based upon fair market value without any capital gains tax liability. Such gifts are deductible up to 30% of your adjusted gross income.
United Way Groves Academy qualifies as a nonmember agency through the United Way and may be designated as your contribution of choice through their Donor Choice Program. Simply write "Groves Academy" on the line marked "other." Please note that up to 15% may be deducted from your donation by the United Way to help cover their administration, fundraising and other costs.
Memorials Gifts given in memory/honor of individuals and/or events.
In-Kind Gifts Non-monetary gifts may be donated to events.
Planned or Deferred Gifts Groves may be named as a beneficiary in your will or living trust. You can also name Groves as a charitable beneficiary of a Charitable Remainder Trust that pays lifetime income to you or a loved one. Assets such as IRAs, 401(k)s and life insurance may also be donated by naming Groves Academy through the beneficiary designation of the contract. Please contact your attorney, or one of our Development staff would be pleased to discuss these options with you. |
