Groves Academy is committed to maintaining small classes where students’ individual needs are addressed throughout the day. For the 2007-08 school year, tuition for grades 1-12 is $18,000. This includes books and testing. A portion of the tuition cost, a reservation deposit of $1,000, is required with the enrollment contract once a student has been accepted and decides to enroll. (This deposit may be refunded if adequate financial aid is not awarded.) The balance of the tuition may be paid in two equal installments or in ten equal installments. Groves Academy is also committed to economic diversity within its student body. Financial aid is offered through FAIR (Financial Aid Independent Review, Inc). After a student has been accepted to Groves, a financial aid application is sent to parents along with the enrollment contract. FAIR processes each application, evaluates it for financial need, and makes a recommendation to Groves Academy based on the information provided. Financial aid is based on FAIR’s recommendation and the availability of funds raised by Groves Academy. Approximately 31% of Groves Academy families received a partial scholarship in 2007-08 based on financial need and available dollars in the Groves Scholarship Fund. Educational loans are available through Wells Fargo Education Financial Services (www.wellsfargo.com/student),Teri Education Resources (www.teri.org), or Key Education Resources (www.Key.com/k-12). Tuition and other educational fees may qualify for deduction or credit on Federal on Minnesota income tax forms. Publication 502 of the Internal Revenue Service (Medical and Dental Expenses) contains the following information under Special Education: You can include in medical expenses the cost of attending a school that furnishes special education to help a child to overcome learning disabilities. A doctor must recommend that the child attend the school. Overcoming the learning disabilities must be a principal reason for attending the school, and any ordinary education received must be incidental to the special education provided. Please consult your tax advisor for more information, or see www.irs.gov/pub/irs-wd/0521003.pdf or www.irs.gov/publications/p502/ar02.html#d0e1426.
