Groves Academy is an independent co-educational day school in suburban Minneapolis, MN. It serves preschool through twelfth grade students who, due to their learning difficulties, have not found success in other schools. We provide an all day, multi-disciplinary special education setting for students who exhibit learning disabilities and attention deficit disorders.
The goal of the educational program is to help students realize their potential through developing strong academic skills, as well as personal and interpersonal competencies necessary for success within the school and in the community-at-large.
Groves Academy has twice received the national "Excellence in Education" award and is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS). Since its founding in 1972, Groves has served over 1300 students.
Groves provides:
- Small classes (8:1) where small group and individual instruction take place in a structured, closely supervised, highly personalized environment
- Ungraded classes with emphasis placed on individual achievement in a non-competitive atmosphere
- A full school curriculum for students 1st grade through 12th grade with the intention of preparing them for mainstreaming or graduation from Groves Academy
- Highly trained staff who recognize that the foundation of learning is the human relationship between teacher and student
As one parent said... "Groves is not just a school; it is a learning, healing, wonderful, special world that supports both the child and family. All of our lives are on track because of the miracle Groves has worked for us. I only wish every child with learning disabilities could find a place like Groves."
