Groves summer school is offered for both Groves students and students from the community. The morning program has an academic focus as students participate in reading, spelling, writing and math classes all taught by Groves teachers in a small student-to-teacher ratio of no more than 6:1. The afternoon session is dedicated to enrichment classes taught by specialists in their respective fields. Afternoon classes may include athletics, science, social skills development, and art.

Summer classes are personalized to meet the academic needs of each student.  Many of the same research-based programs used during the school year, such as the Wilson Reading System (an Orton-Gillingham based approach to reading) and Kansas Writing Strategies, are used during the summer. Teachers combine their experience and expertise in special education with an understanding and supportive approach to learning.

The summer school program at Groves for 2010 will run from June 21 – July 16 and will be open to students, from any school, who are entering 2nd through 9th grades.
